Girl of the Blogosphere: Femke

Name: Femke
City: Assen, The Netherlands
Occupation: Student

Who is your fashion inspiration?
I visit a lot of other blogs to get my inspiration, I can't mention one in particular. I really like the designs of Marc Jacobs. I saw a documentary about him and I love the way he works and lives. I also like the style of French girls, they have a different sense of fashion.

What is your favourite place to shop?
Most of the time I shop on the internet because it's the place to be! Also, vintage shops and markets. I especially like the Noordermarkt in Amsterdam.

What is your current favourite trend?
I really like the floral trend mixed with denim and high heels.

What is the current trend you dislike the most?
I can't tell which trend I dislike at the moment, I really like the trends this season.

Why did you start your blog?
I started my blog a year ago as a bet with a classmate. We wanted to see which one of us could update her blog the longest. I won. I really like blogging, it's so much fun to see all the comments from my readers.

How would you describe your style?
My style is very versatile, I like a lot of styles and from each style I pick the pieces I like the most so I can create my own style.

What is one thing you are dying to buy this spring?
A sheer polkadot shirt, I'm looking everywhere but I can't find the perfect one. So if you see a shirt like this, contact me please!

What is the most expensive thing you have bought?
I don't buy very expensive items. It's a challenge to be fashionable with my purse closed. I think my clogs from Zara are the most expensive (100 Euro).

What is the least expensive thing you have bought?
I can't tell my least expensive item, because I have a lot of them. I guess my vintage sunglasses are the cheapest (50cents-2Euro).

What is the one thing you regret buying?
I buy a lot on sale because it's so cheap but most of the time when I'm at home I regret buying it because I don't like it at all! Later on I sell it on the internet and buy new clothes.

What is your favourite vacation destination?
I haven't seen a lot of the world yet, but this year I'll visit Paris and Dusseldorf. In the future I would like to see a lot of other cities and countries like New York, Milan, Indonesia etc.

Diane Von Furstenberg Nika Sequin Python Print Flats

I have already stated my love of flats due to my need for comfort. I need to be able to walk without falling and this city doesn't like to take care of the sidewalks. These flats from DVF are gorgeous! I love the colour combination of the snake print. They are exactly what I need for spring and summer. They would add the perfect amount of sparkle and colour to a simple look. I would wear these with skinny jeans and a basic tee for a comfortable but stylish look.

T-Bags Cami Dress

I love punches of bright colour and I am definitely not afraid of big and bright prints. This dress by T-Bags is so fun. It would be a perfect summer dress. From the front it looks relatively modest but when you turn around it has a beautiful and sexy open back. I would wear this with heels for night and flip flops during the day.

Sneak Peak of Marina Makaron Moscow's Spring '11: Classic Chic

I am lucky enough to be able to give you guys a sneak peak of Marina Makaron Moscow's Spring 2011 collection. Marina Makaron Moscow is defined by the eye-popping prints used for her silks. For the spring collection she went in three different directions or themes. Today's post features Classic Chic. For Classic Chic Marina wanted something simple in contrast with the colour and shape explosions she is known for. She wanted something that reminded her of a Sunday tea and honey brunch in the countryside. She says, "a lot of times I do my collection considering other shapes in mind, so being a lover of contrast I figure these would go fabulously with my signature scarves."

Classic Tom

Classic Eye

Mime Couture

Plaid Toast

These designs will be available in her New York showroom in August.

Linea Pelle Pyramid Stud Mini Bag

I think this is a great everyday cross body bag that can also be used as a clutch. Two bags for the price of one. The shape is simple and classic. The studs add interest to the bag without going overboard. When I have a lot going on in my clothes I like a simple bag, and when my clothes are simple I like a bag that stands out. This bag is great because it is simple enough in design and shape but the studs make it stand out.

Girl of the Blogosphere: Becca

Name: Becca
City: Manchester, United Kingdom
Occupation: Student

Who is your fashion inspiration?
I really like looking at what people similar to my age are wearing on the streets when I go shopping - I find them really inspiring!

What is your favourite place to shop?
I love online stores the most; desireclothing.co.uk and chiarafashion.co.uk. In store has to be Miss Selfridge and New Look.

What is your current favourite fashion trend?
Bodycon skirts, I'm addicted to them now. I've bought three in the past three weeks!

What is the current trend you dislike the most?
I'm not so keen on the tailored shorts look.

Why did you start your blog?
I started to tell the world my views and opinions on fashion and style and because my friends were fed up of me going on about fashion!

How would you describe your style?
I'd describe my style as indie and bohemian. As I love everything floral and who doesn't love a good old checkered shirt?!

What is one thing you are dying to buy this spring?
Probably some lace shorts or a pair of harem pants!

What is the most expensive thing you have bought?
My prom dress!

What is the least expensive thing you have bought?
Probably a plain white top in the warehouse sales for £3, it goes with everything and I've worn it so much, I even customized it s it's got a lace rim!

What is one thing you regret buying?
This blue dress in a vintage shop, I realized how bad I looked in it and thought never again shall I put that on!

What is your favourite vacation destination?
I've just been to Iceland recently and that was amazing, my new favourite destination to go on holiday - it was really cold thought!

Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent Mila Studded Suede Flats

When it comes to everyday life I tend to gravitate towards flats. Lets be real, they are simply much more comfortable and easier to walk in than heels. There's no way I could run around this city taking public transit while wearing heels. I'd fall flat on my face. Flats don't need to be boring and these Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent studded flats are anything but boring. They are a classic black flat in suede embellished by studs. These would add fun and edge to any look. I'd probably wear them with skinny jeans and tee. The perfect simple outfit.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Marc Y Marc Lil Birdie Satchel

I love the shape of the Marc by Marc Jacobs bag. The size seems perfect for everyday and carrying all the things I need. Also, I love the shape, it's classic with a modern twist. The bag looks like it can be comfortably worn on the shoulder or on the arm. I also like that the leather is monogramed. Usually I'm not a fan of logos but I think it adds interest to the bag and because its black on black its not so noticeable. The inside is super fun too! Take a look at the fun fabric that lines the inside of the bag.

Lee Angel Jewelry Desiree Ring

This ring is amazing. I want it and I want it bad! It is most definitely a statement piece and I'm sure that I would be asked multiple times where I got it if I wore it out. The way the crystals and glass pearl have been mixed is beautiful. I love how they are all clustered together. This ring is a show stopper and if I wasn't so broke I would I would be wearing this tomorrow.

Girl of the Blogosphere: Melanie

Name: Melanie
City: Just outside Washington DC
Occupation: Web Content Developer for the Department of Education

Who is your fashion inspiration?
The working ladies of DC are my fashion inspiration. They give me so many ideas and have really helped my style evolve.

What is your favourite place to shop?
I am way to indecisive to choose just one store. There are several places I go to regularly...Forever21, H&M, DELiA*s (for jeans) and New York & Company.

What is your current favourite fashion trend?
Chambray and floral. Particularly together.

What is the current trend you dislike the most?
Clogs. When I think of them I just think of wooden Dutch shoes (which would actually be a really cool table decoration). I feel like they would be really heavy and uncomfortable.

Why did you start your blog?
Despite having a walk-in closet and a dresser full of clothing, I realized that I gravitate towards the same stuff. I always have a really hard time dressing professionally for work and still feeling like myself. I read my friend, Maria's blog (Infinite Whimsy) regularly and thought, "She is so cute and professional! Maybe her blog helps her do that...I should make one, too!" So I did!

How would you describe your style?
This one is kind of tough. I'd say my style is simple and fitted. Can one describe their style as fitted? I have no idea...Anyway, I'm not really into layering or baggy clothing and I always forget to put on accessories.

What is one thing you are dying to buy this spring?
A chambray button down and boyfriend jeans. That was two. I'm such a cheater (insert: indecisiveness).

What is the most expensive thing you have bought?
I tend to buy a lot of inexpensive stuff, which would certainly explain why I have so much clothing. I figure if I don't spend too much, it's not the end of the world if whatever it is gets messed up. I do, however, buy quite a bit of Coach. I have four or five handbags, a few wristlets and sneakers.

What was the least expensive thing you have bought?
I bought a pair of maroon pumps for $3.50. Gotta love Payless BoGo.

What is one thing that you regret buying?
Several years ago, I went to South Street in Philly and spent way too much on High Top Nike Dunks. I have no idea what I was thinking. I still haven't worn them outside of my closet.

What is your favourite vacation destination?
Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It is easily the most beautiful place I've ever been. It is such a cool, small town. There is more to see and do there than I could do in a month. I can't wait to go back.

Marina Makaron Moscow: Honey Breeze

The colours in this Marina Makaron Moscow scarf are so amazingly perfect for summer. The colours remind me of tropical islands and sitting on the beach with a drink in hand and there's nothing more perfect than that. The scarf is a silk chiffon so it is more light weight and a bit better for warmer weather. Honey Breeze is a perfect way to jazz up casual day looks or to add colour to your evening looks.

Miu Miu Oversized Sequined Clutch

I think this Miu Miu clutch is so fantastically fun! The sequins would add a bit of excitement and a lot of glamour to any look. The only problem is, I think it is a bit overpriced, $995 for sequins?! I understand paying money for leather but I really have a hard time understanding high prices when the item is not leather. That being said, I would love to carry this bag for an evening out with my friends.

Zara Terez Bleecker Bag

I love Tie-dye! So, I am loving this Zara Terez bag. To me the tie-dye on the front flap makes this bag super fun. It is a great way to add colour to your looks this spring and summer. I especially love the colour of the purple dye. I think purple is one of my favourite colours and I love to add it to my looks when I can. The bag itself is quite simple and can be worn on the shoulder or cross-body. This is definitely a casual day bag to be worn with jeans or shorts.

What do you think?

Girl of the Blogosphere: Lena

Name: Lena
City: Monreal, Canada
Occupation: Fashion Buyer

Who is your fashion inspiration?
I don't have anyone in particular that I look up to for inspiration. What inspires me in how I dress is everything from magazines, street fashion which I find right outside my door or pictures I find on the web from different cities, movies I watch, music I listen to, etc. I obtain inspiration from a lot of different places and I then work it to suit my taste and my style.

What is your favourite place to shop?
My favourite retail store has to definitely be H&M. Affordable fashion inspired by the runway to suit the commercial customer. I know that if I step into a store, I am not coming out empty handed.

What is your current favourite fashion trend?
Florals, hands down. I love this print on anything and everything. It's just so feminine and makes me think of summer.

What is the current trend you dislike the most?
Full on denim. It's not that I dislike it, I just find it's the hardest trend to pull off...for me that is.

Why did you start your blog?
A lot of people would tell me how they love my style and they would compliment me on the fact that I manage to look good without spending loads of money. Therefore I wanted to start my blog to inspire girls out there and show them that you don't need to break the bank in order to be stylish...all you need is confidence and imagination.

How would you describe your style?
Never the same...lol. I jump from trend to trend. I can be girly and romantically dressed one day and rocker the next. I wear as I feel.

What is one thing you are dying to buy this spring?
Clogs. I am still on the hunt for a great affordable pair.

What is the most expensive thing you have bought?
My black Gucci wave large hobo. My husband and I were vacationing in Europe, and were at the airport in Italy waiting to catch out flight to Portugal. We walked by a Gucci store and I wanted to go inside to take a look. The prices were much cheaper there as opposed to Montreal as we were saving on the duties etc. Therefore, I purchased this bag as a 30th birthday present to myself. Two years later it still looks like the first day I bought it.

What is the least expensive thing you have bought?
So many things, however, I would have to say the best steal was a red vintage wool blazer by Ralph Lauren which I found at a thrift shop for $12. It fits like a glove!

What is one thing you regret buying?
To be honest with you, I never regret buying anything. If I purchase it there's always a reason why. I have never returned anything in my life.

What is your favourite restaurant?
I'm not saying this because I'm Italian but I love Italian food. Pizza, pasta, gelato...doesn't get any better :) My favourite restaurant at the moment is Bottega. Two locations only, unfortunately. Everything I've tasted there has been delicious. I have nothing bad to say about the place. If you are ever in Montreal you must try it. I assure you, you won't be disappointed.

What is your favourite vacation destination?
I have not been to many places in my life but I'd have to say that Italy has been my favourite. I only visited a few cities in the north and I am dying to go back to see the rest. So much history, such great people and do I even need to go into detail about the food? Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

Poetic Designs Toujours Paris Necklace

I love how whimsical this Poetic Designs necklace is. It is simple and chic and would add a bit of fun and whimsy to a casual look. Anything with an Eiffel Tower on it definitely gets my attention. There is something so romantic and dreamy about Paris. I hope to make it to Paris one day...soon. I love the mixture of charms hanging from the bottom and the bird holding it together. This is definitely a good way to add some fun to your look. I would wear this with jeans and a tee for a casual look.

Alexis Hudson Sofia Clutch

Alexis Hudson is quickly becoming a favourite handbag line of mine. It's hard not love the Sofia clutch. The large gold hardware is unique and adds a lot of interest to the clutch. I especially love the little lock hanging in the middle. The leather is soft and this caribbean blue is a gorgeous colour to add to any collection of clutches. I think it is the perfect size for a night out with friends or dinner with your love. Check out the Alexis Hudson website AlexisHudsonInc.com for a video showing you the inside of the bag.

Gold Tall Whooga Sheepskin Boot

I am a huge fan of sheepskin boots. Some people love sheepskin boots and others hate them. I happen to love them. You won't be getting any hate from me! They are super comfortable and some days I need a little comfort. I also happen to love the casual look of wearing them with jeans. Thanks to Buy It Right Here I learned that temperate climates are great for wearing sheepskin boots. I live in a temperate climate and it's pretty much spring all year round and so it is the perfect climate to wear sheepskin boots. Not too hot, not too cold. That being said, I have also worn them throughout frigid Canadian winters and they kept me toasty warm. I love this metallic gold colour, it is a nice departure from my normal chestnut and would add a little fun to my casual and comfortable looks. Check out Buy It Right Here for tons of information about the history sheepskin boots, fake vs real, how to care for them and much more.

Twinkle by Wenlan Double Tree Dress

I love this dress. There is something so summery and fantastic about the gorgeous purple print. I love the way it is cinched in at the waist. It is pretty and edgy at the same time and could also be casual or dressy depending on how you accessorize. I think this dress would perfect for hot summer days shopping downtown with my friends. Too bad I don't get to experience summer in my city. Lucky for me I will be home for 3 weeks in July and I would love to be wearing this dress while I desperately try and catch up on all the shopping I've missed while living in South America.

Girl of the Blogosphere: Melanie M.

Name: Melanie
City: Los Angeles
Occupation: Student

Who is your fashion inspiration?
My fashion inspiration is myself in the sixties. I find that if I avoid dropping names as to who my fashion icons are, it's easier to remain true to myself instead of wearing what other people wear. Melanie in the sixties is a French cinema actress who loves red wine, socializing, and going to jazz clubs. She likes buying art at auctions with her best friend, Edie - all the while looking chic and elegant. She also writes lovely poems!

What is your favourite place to shop?
I love shopping at second-hand stores. It's pure bliss finding a piece and making up a story to enhance its sentimental value. Also, I've liked Urban Outfitters since I was a freshman in high school which was about five years ago - I'd like to think I'm an O.G UO Girl. Hahaha!

What is your current favourite fashion trend?
Both Melanie in the sixties and myself don't agree with trends!

What is the current trend you dislike the most?
Studs on women! We should embrace our femininity!

Why did you start your blog?
I actually started my blog when I had my long hair, but later deleted all those posts and started fresh with my short hair. Having a blog was sort of a way to log most of my outfits as a reference for my future-self. I think it would be quite interesting to look back at how I dressed when I was seventeen (when I started my blog) when I'm twenty-eight.

How would you describe your style?
I always describe my style as "sixties reincarnated". I love the sixties - I simply can't stress that enough!

What is one thing you are dying to buy this spring?
One thing I'm dying for this spring is anything from the Alexa Chung for Madewell collection. Or a pair of snazzy, flamboyent, silver or gold high-waisted shorts. Something very seventies-retro.

What is the most expensive thing you have bought?
I don't buy expensive things! Well, actually, I bought $58 shoes from Urban Outfitters with my sixteenth birthday money. That's when I really didn't know how to second hand shop. I ended up selling those shoes on eBay for $20. The buyer got a great bargain.

What is the least expensive thing you have bought?
I have loads of "least-expensive-things-that-I've-bought" so it's hard to remember what the least expensive is out of all the least expensive things. The one thing that pops in my head is a pair of sunglasses I bought for fifty cents at a local thrift store.

What is one thing that you regret buying?
One thing I regret buying is a pair of pink ankle booties on Etsy that were so beautiful and exactly what I was looking for. The problem is that even before purchasing them, I knew they were going to be too small. The returning process went smoothly, but I'll never get that shipping money back! :(

What is your favourite vacation destination?
My favourite vacation destination would have to be Yosemite National Park. I'm a full blown city girl, so being outside in Earth's natural environment is literally a breath of fresh air. I remember a few years ago., my little brother and I were playing in a creek not too far from where we were camping, and I sear, we both saw Sasquatch.
