Girl of the Blogosphere: Diya

Name: Diya
City: Austin, TX
Occupation: Chemical Engineering Student

Who is your fashion inspiration?

Alexa Chung, Abby Lee Kershaw, and Karla (Karla's Closet). They don't inspire me in the sense that I want to wear exact what they wear, but I love that they have fun about clothes without worrying about the trends too much.

What is one thing you always carry in your bag?
Other than the normal essentials (keys/wallet/etc) I always carry mineral pressed powder.

What is your current favourite fashion trend?

Lace & leather combinations

What is the current trend you dislike the most?
Kitten heels with pointy toes

Why did you start your blog?
I was bored at the time (it was during xmas break) and I wanted to show that people with a science career path can dress up too.

How would you describe your style?
Lots of detailing, lots of neutrals, and overdose of jewelry

What is one thing you are dying to buy this winter?
Nothing in particularly...I do want to find the perfect black lace slip dress eventually though.

What is the most expensive thing you have bought?
Um... probably my Leonello Borghi purse. $200 ish but the original price was something like $1250...

What is the least expensive thing you have bought?
I have a lot of things from Savers that were 99 cents. One of which is this awesome blazer still with the Nordstrom's price tag on it marked $150.

What is one thing that you regret buying?
A lot of stuff that were "so cheap not to buy." We've all been there...haha.
If you could meet one person from the fashion industry/ a fashion icon who would it be?
I really want to meet Garance Dore!!! She so cute.

What is your favourite vacation destination?
I like San Francisco and NYC in the United States but I would think Greece would ideal for vacations....

What is one totally random fact you want others to know about you?
I guess that I'm pretty much a Youtube fiend.

Ediot Sprinke Pop Colour Oversized Dress T-Shirt

I know it is freezing outside and this t-shirt would not keep me warm but I couldn't help showing it to you because I love the tree graphic. It is hand painted and sold by Ediot on Etsy. She also writes a blog which you can check out HERE. I love the bright colour and I think it would be perfect for the spring and summer.

What do you think?

You can buy it through Ediot Etsy for $28

Raley Cardigan by Nick and Mo

I'm still window shopping for sweaters and cardigans and this is a great classic cardigan. I am a fan of sweaters that are a bit longer and this would be great to wear with jeans and a t-shirt for simple casual look.

Kensie Cozy grey and Black Sweater

I have been in Ottawa for just over a day and it turns out I need warmer clothes. I am not at my parents house and I don't have winter clothes with me because I had no need for them in Colombia. For now I will layer like crazy but I will need to buy winter clothes ASAP. While browsing through Lulus.com I saw this sweater. I love the shape and pattern of it and it looks super warm.

Girl of the Blogosphere: Nina

Name: Nina

City: Toronto, ON
Occupation: Credit & Collections Manager

Who is your fashion inspiration?
I'm inspired by everyday people with great confidence, and I will always be wowed by Bianca Jagger, Anita Pallenberg, Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin of course.

What is one thing you always carry in your bag?
I carry my notebook, sort of a journal, I tend to jot down my thoughts, ideas, to do lists, quotes, its always with me!

What is your current favourite fashion trend?
I'm on the hunt for an oversized shearling aviator jacket, preferably chocolate brown.

What is the current trend you dislike the most?
I would say harem pants, I'm not a fan of hanging crotch, but I can appreciate the look on some.

Why did you start your blog?
It's a way to express myself and also meet some new friends along the way.

How would you describe your style?

It's hard to say, I will generally try whatever I like, but I'm most attracted to flowy and colorful items with bohemian flare. I do love structure as well and classic pieces like a crisp white button down with jeans, always appropriate.
I don't really want to be defined by one style category, I want to experiment always.

What is one thing you are dying to buy this winter?

Winters in Canada are fierce, and every year is a challenge to find a coat thats warm and fashionable. The search is on as we speak.

What is the most expensive thing you have bought?
Probably shoes

What is the least expensive thing you have bought?
Many thrifted items I've picked up under $10.00

What is one thing that you regret buying?
In the past I've regret buying things that are too trendy, so I try to be conscious and only buy if I can see myself wearing it over a long period of time.

If you could meet one person from the fashion industry/ a fashion icon who would it be?
I admire John Galliano, his creative vision, his fearlessness and imagination is mind blowing.

What is your favourite vacation destination?
I can't pick just one place, I'm still discovering the world, there is so much beauty everywhere.

What is one totally random fact you want others to know about you?
I love listening to Goth ballads, the poetry is heart wrenching, check it out!

Asos Jacquard Cardigan

I haven't lived in Canada for three years and my winter wardrobe is seriously lacking. I spent two years living in Korea and the winters were not as cold as Canadian winters. This past year I have been living in South America and there is no winter. T-shirts just aren't going to cut it once I'm back on Canadian soil. I have been checking out sweaters lately and I love this one from Asos. I love the neutral colours and it looks like it would be super comfy.

What do you think?

You can buy it through Asos.com for $72.41
