Girl of the Blogosphere: Marilou

Name: Marilou
City: Ottawa, ON, Canada (yay!)
Occupation: Policy Analyst/Yoga teacher/Fitness Instructor

What is one thing you always carry in your bag?
Pens, lots of them. I usually get offended(wrongly, I know!) when people ask me: Have you got a pen? Why, of course I do!

What is your current favourite fashion trend?
I have to say richest of faux fur. It lends a certain kind of elegance to any outfit, from ripped demin cut-offs to the sleekest little black dress. Plus, the additional dose of warmth doesn't hurt either!

What is the current trend you dislike the most?
I say this with all the due respect (as I know my closest of friends are still constantly aghast by my insistence on wearing Ugg Boots and stylin' it up!) but what's up with Crocs?

Form + function = 0.

At least Uggs keeps you warm and comfortable, yes?

Why did you start your blog?
It took me a long time to actually start Twenty York Street. I have been 'secretly' following a number of style and fashion blogs and I've contemplated creating one of my own. I'm quite terrible at remembering intangible memories so finally, I took the leap, mainly so that I can document not only my sartorial choices but also to keep a sort of online journal of my experiences in this journey called life.

How would you describe your style?
Though I wish I can wittily exclaim: Oh my, my style changes all the time but I have a sexy, edgy rock 'n roll look. Sadly, the truth sounds more pragmatic: my style is simple, elegant and classy. Or so I'd like to think, ha ha!

What is one thing you are dying to buy this winter?
My Christmas Wish list included the chicest and warmest of Parkas, a kind of winter coat that will keep me looking slim, stylish and at the same time hot and toasty. I suppose you've noticed by now that my style trend is indeed all about keeping warm. It's more a basic survival necessity for Canadian girls, really!

Are you a shoes or bags kind of girl?
Shoes absolutely! One look at Twenty York and you'll see that immediately. I can pretty much live with the same exact purse for months, matching or not matching with my outfits, because I'm not quite tedious when it comes to always transferring all my purse contents.

What is one thing that you regret buying?
I, unfortunately absolutely hates making returns, therefore I've got a lot of buyer's regrets. I also do not have the valuable skill of saying, No, thank you. I'm more like... darn, I really don't need that all-organic cellulite cream or I'm not a big fan of that deer sweater but here, feel free to swipe my credit card! Ugh!

What is your favourite vacation destination?
Aside from the splendidly beautiful islands of the Philippines, which is my other home, I'd love to complete a cross-country tour of my beloved Canada. But we also have plans (immediate, I hope) to travel to Spain, Italy and France. Oui, je sais que c'est un cliché mais j'adore Paris!

What is one totally random fact you want others to know about you?
E (the other half) thinks it’s both adorable and terribly annoying that I have the weirdest and loudest of laughs! It sounds like a hybrid between a hyena, a banshee and a perpetually, evil Disney stepmother!
