Shopping Tales: Leopard Print Scarves & Saving $1

I have a bit of an obsession with scarves. My drawer is overflowing with them. When I was teaching in Korea my students nicknamed me Scarf Teacher because I wore one pretty much everyday. They were as much a fashion statement as a necessary tool to stay warm in both winter and summer. Thanks to poor insulation in winter and insanely high air conditioner temperatures in the summer I was always freezing while indoors.

I bought this Madewell scarf a few months ago and had it sent to my sisters house in NYC. Now that I am home I've reclaimed my purchase and plan to get a lot of use out of it.

I love the bright colours and the leopard print is fun and trendy.

Over the holidays my cousins and I did a little shopping in Toronto. I went into Aritzia, lured by SALE signs. I should have known that a sale in Aritzia is not a sale. I fell in love with a leopard print scarf and was sad to see that the original price of $68 was marked down to $62. Seeing as how I just moved an entire continent and am currently unemployed I knew I couldn't justify the expense. Being an adult sucks.

My cousin dragged me out of the store and we headed to Kensington market where we found this leopard print pashmina for...$12.

We each wanted one so we decided to do a little bargaining and got the price reduced to $11. We saved $1! Who knew you could bargain in Toronto?!

Your $11 buy was much more sensible than an $62 one and it's just as cute!
