Girl of the Blogosphere: Kimberly

Name: Kimberly
City: Greenville, NC (Can you even call that a city?)
Occupation: Administrative Assistant

Who is your fashion inspiration?
My real life fashion inspirations are my daughter and my four best girlfriends. My daughter is the reason I started to blog in the first place- I fell into the new mom rut, decided I deserved better, and wanted to be a "chic mommy." And my best friends all represent different parts of my style from classic to professional to sporty to mom-on-the-go. In the blog world, I gather inspiration from several bloggers, but Sydney, of The Daybook, has a fashionable, classy, chic, clean, and ATTAINABLE style that I love. My celebrity style icon is Lauren Conrad. Her style is SO easy and girly!

What is one thing you always carry in your bag?
Oh, C.O. Bigelow tinted lip gloss with menthol in it, hands down. I'll remember my lip gloss before my cell phone.

What is your current favourite fashion trend?
Something I love to see, but am not super comfortable wearing is the military look. I love the idea of combat boots and a chic, tailored military inspired jacket. But for some reason, I just can't make it look right on myself. I've tried on a few jackets that are cute on the hanger, but don't do it for me on my body. A trend I'll never get over is girly ruffles and florals. I love tiny floral prints on lightweight ruffled dresses. The look makes me feel so ethereal and feminine.

What is the current trend you dislike the most?
I'm really not into metallics. Don't get me wrong. I love accessorizing with pops of gold, silver, copper and pewter, but I don't think I could manage to wear an entire piece of clothing that's metallic.
Why did you start your blog?
This is my favorite question, and I kind of ruined it by giving you hints in my answer to #1, but I started my blog because I was living in t-shirts, sweat pants, flip-flops, and exercise clothes. All I wanted after my daughter was born, was to be comfortable. I didn't realize that one could be fashionable and comfortable at the same time. And before the blog, I probably would never have even considered compromising a bit of comfort to look really good. But, I decided to document my outfits to hold myself accountable. I figured that if I was going to have my picture taken every day, I couldn't be lazy.

Who takes your photos for you/ How do your take your photos?
Sometimes, my husband takes my photos, but I do them myself, most of the time. I just got a new camera for my birthday, and my husband found a few tripods for me to test out, so that's my preferred method when he's not around. Before about a week ago, though, I was setting my little digital camera on whatever flat surface I could find and praying that the self timer would work!

How would you describe your style?
The only way to put my style into one description is "Chic Mom-On-The-Go." I was so afraid that when I got the gumption to start "getting dressed" after my daughter was born, that I would fall into cropped khakis, striped polos, and keds. I didn't want to be THAT mom. I express myself, depending on my mood and the weather, and I have a wide array of styles within in my wardrobe, ranging from casual to dressy and professional to preppy.

What is one thing you are dying to buy this spring?
I want a dress for every single day. I've put myself on a year-long shopping ban to help gain more control over finances and weed out what I need and don't need in my wardrobe. But I want sweet, girly dresses like nobody's business.

Are you a shoes or bags kind of girl?
Shoes, shoes, shoes! Bags aren't exciting to me. GASP! I know, it's crazy. My shoulders slant down, a lot, so most bags just slip right down my arm and frustrate me to no end! I can't imagine spending a ton of money on a bag that isn't going to stay on my shoulder! Now, if I could find a sweet cross-body bag that is classic, neutral in color, and big enough to carry my lip gloss, camera, phone, wallet, and a diaper or two if we're on the run, I'm picking that baby up. Shopping ban or not! But shoes... they make me drool.

What is one thing that you regret buying?
Just last Fall, I purchased a seafoam green wrap shirt from New York and Company. I bought it online and the color looked really pretty and minty. When I received it in the mail, it looked like baby peas and the color washes me out so badly that I look sea sick. I let it hang in my closet while deliberating, and now it's too late for a return!

If you could meet one person from the fashion industry/ a fashion icon who would it be?
Lauren Conrad. I know, I know. Several people would prefer to meet a high fashion designer or runway model. And Lauren is YOUNGER than me, too boot, so it's not like she's had a lifetime of experience. But at the same time, she's accomplished so much at a young age, she's chasing her dreams, her style is within reach for the average woman, and her book, "Lauren Conrad Style," was a huge inspiration to me.

What is your favourite vacation destination?
I haven't been anywhere exotic or super-exciting, except for France. And that was for a school trip! So, as far as my official vacations have gone, I'll have to choose the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The beaches and restaurants are amazing, it's not too touristy, and that's where I've made a ton of memories with my friends and my husband.

What is one totally random fact you want others to know about you?
If I could only choose one "meal" for the rest of my life, I'd choose original Oreos (not that double stuff nastiness) and milk!

I really like Kimberly. She seems really nice. I also like that her hubby, and daughter have their own little features. I would eat only oreos too with peanutbutter on top, and milk. Now I'm hungry.
