Last Thursday I was sitting in a hair salon waiting for my cousin to finish a hair consultation. I was bored so I checked my email (one of the many perks of having an iPhone) and was very excited to see that I had gotten an invitation to The Outnet's $2 Sale in celebration of their 2nd Birthday.
Once I got the invitation I obsessed for HOURS about what to buy which turned out to be pointless because nothing I saw on the site prior to the sale was actually a part of the sale. The invite stated that between 11am-12pm I would receive an email with the link. I started refreshing my email just before 11 and thankfully they only tortured me until 11:13am. Once I was in the sale I was in panic mode. I think the key to a sale like this is to be decisive. Making decisions fast is essential to getting what you want. I didn't make decisions fast so a few things I would have liked to get sold out on me (like a white Celine trench). If I am lucky enough to get an invite next year I will act A LOT faster.
I ended up getting a Donna Karan Crepe Sleeveless Vest.
Here she is. I have to admit that I was a bit underwhelmed with the vest. It fits and is definitely well made with good quality fabric but I am considering selling it. The original retail price was $1765. Who buys a vest for that much money?!

If you have read the blog for a while you know that I have been wanting the Alexander Wang Rocco Duffel. If I can sell it I might put the money towards the bag.
What do you think I should do?

Love it!

Man, who would normally spend that much on a vest? You got a great deal (obviously) and I love the creamy color!

Seriously, WHO does?!?
Sell it and get the bag! :P That's what I would do!! !

I kind of agree. I love the vest. It's gorgeous, but I always choose bags over clothes. I feel like you could get a good amount of use with it. Look in your wardrobe and see how many outfits you can work it into and then decide what to do.

Well I love it! But if you're questioning whether or not you're going to wear it, maybe you should sell it to buy the bag you really want!!!
Let us know what you decide and happy weekend!!
How exciting!! The vest looks amazing!!
Cheers,
Karen

Keep it. You can try to sell it, but I don't think you'll get very much for it. It's camel, it's luxe, and something you can probably wear for life.
I don't know...I might keep it. I think it's fabulous and classic but you need to be happy with it. I totally missed the sale. I was waiting but then got tied up. There's always next year I guess :)
Happy weekend! xoxo
If you don't absolutely love it, sell it!! :D But it is very pretty, haha
(I doubt my Valentino will sell so I'm probably keeping it...the listing ends next week)

Sell it my friend! Since you don't like it that much, is the best you can do! Good luck with that! ;)
Beautiful vest!
Im still mad I didnt get an invite to the sale lol. Knowing how much you want the Rocco, I'd see how much you can get for the vest. It's a gorgeous piece and obviously well made, but if it retails for that much and you could get a nice chunk of the Rocco paid for - decision made lol.
the vest is AWESOME.
FAB!! great purchase!!

A $2 sale?! That's crazy! As for the vest, I think it's lovely and could serve you well, but if you think you could get a big hunk of the funds for the Alexander Wang bag, it might be worth it!
wow 2 bucks?!?! Thats a steal, but if you dont like it then sell it. Its better than it sitting in your wardrobe collecting dust
The vest is amazing!! If you don't want it -- sell it to me!! :D
xoxo
it is definitely a gorgeous piece, but if you aren't gonna wear it then it's not worth keeping....
Nice vest! It's crazy how much it was before the sale..... :)SarahD
im in love with that bag you want to get!
lucky you! i think the vest is looovely :) xx
So it was only $2?! But if you're only feeling mediocre about the vest you should sell it--and put the money towards what you really want.
Holy Moly! That is a lot of money....I totally know what you mean about having to be very decisive about that kind of sale. I think I would be pretty hesitant as well because when things are so discounted from their original prices I think somwtimes it skews how you see them. Part of the appeal is that an item is 98% off, not that you would have loved it so much if that weren't the case.
I think if you try it on and you're still iffy about it - sell and go for the bag you REALLY want!
xo, Ashley
Nice vest;)
If your not happy with it, then sell it and get the Wang.
I say sell it and go for the bag (though I'll be incredibly jealous when you actually do get the Rocco!). Why keep something you don't love, especially when it only cost you $2? What a deal, though!
HAPPY EASTER!!!
♥Nice post.) Love your blog.))♥
Will you wear it at some point? If so, keep it. It's a pretty classic piece. My coat is a bit big, but I think will be ok with a sweater underneath so I'm keeping it!
I so want a Rocco duffel too! The ones with rose gold studs are so hard to find now!

Congratulations, you got SOMETHING (and a good thing it is). My Outnet sale was total frustration... collapsed, overloaded website and I got nothing I fancied :(
Happy Easter, Isabel! xo
woow the vest looks amazing! :)
♥
Wow, such a beautiful vest! But you should definitely sell it and get the Duffel because it's what you really want! xoxoxoo
