I am a style blog fiend, so I pull inspirations from such girls as Blair from Atlantic-Pacific, Tanvi, Jaime from Glam Latte, and Victoria from Thrift Juice. I also love Nicole Richie and her flair for refined boho style with big accessories on her petite frame. Also, Madonna in 1987...Now she just looks gaunt and scares me a little.
What is one thing you always carry in your bag?
Purell. This city tends to give me the dryvoms because it can be a little beligerently filthy...In case I have to jump on MUNI or get dive bombed by a pigeon, it's nice to have clean hands, or the option to pour a disinfectant all over my being.
What is your current favourite fashion trend?
Piles and piles of bracelets. I will not walk out of the house without my Michael Kors Men's Chronograph and the requisite 4.2 pounds of wrist adornments.
What is the current trend you dislike the most?
I try not to say that I dislike a trend because I know me...I will end up succoming to that trend that I hate and then feel like an a-hole for it.
Why did you start your blog?
I have always had a funny and descriptive way of writing. My friends and family would tell me all the time that I should start a blog after receiving emails from me that would make them laugh. That paired with the fact that most people I know ask me for style advice, it seemed like the right forum for me. For the longest time the only people who would read my sparklegemridiculousness was my mom and The Mister. It has just grown organically into something that I am passionate about.
Who takes your photos for you/ How do your take your photos?
I manage the creative department at an advertising agency so, I have a handful of Art Directors who will do whatever I tell them to for fear of being assigned to a crappy project. So, mostly it is my coworkers but on the weekends, or whenever I ask nicely, The Mister will take them for me. He is the bees knees, so, he can usually get the best shots of me.
How would you describe your style?
Wuss Rock. Basically Journey meets Motley Crue. I am a sucker for anything with a stud, sequin, or leather...but not in a weird fetishy way.
What is one thing you are dying to buy this summer?
Unfortunately, Summer doesn't begin in SF until September/October, which luckily is boot season (yummmm!) So, I am looking forward to buying the Jeffrey Campbell Brit Wrap Boots. I can't wait to pair them with a sundress and a leather jacket.
