Last night I heard someone say Aldo and was a little surprised by the pronounciation. Like a normal person I took to twitter asking people how they said it. The answers were mixed. So I did what most normal people would do and spend an hour googling and google video searching. I still can't find a straight answer so now I am asking you guys.
How do you say Aldo? Does it depend on what country we live in?
All-dough or Al-dough (like the name Al)?

UPDATE: Aldo has spoken

Great shoes;)
ReplyDeleteI usually do All-dough...but I think its Al-dough...haa XDXD I am the same way about Miu Miu...no idea how to say it

I say Al-dough. I'm so intrigued! :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'm saying All-dough... but English is my 2nd language, so a lot of things I say sound a bit funny.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a common problem in fashion, with names both foreign and deliberately odd. I haven't a clue on this one: I'm following your lead!
ReplyDeleteI've always gone for Al-dough...

Al-dough! That's how I've always said and heard it. It's funny how some words can be pronounced so differently!
ReplyDeleteI think I've always said Al-do, but I also mispronounce anything not American because I suck. :) I love Aldo though, I own so many of their shoes!
ReplyDeleteAll-dough
ReplyDeleteAll-dough.
ReplyDeleteBut I have a friend that says it "Al-dough"... And I'm always like, "Huh? Oh, got it."
There are similar quibbles about the handbag/shoe line Botkier. "Bot-keer" (rhymes with "pier") or "Bot-kee-ay"?
Fashion struggles. :)

ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Never heard of this brand, Aldo, but thanks for the intro. Hope you are well and happy;-)
ReplyDeleteI say al-dough like the name. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, I love this post and I love the 'great shoes' comments (why, people, why?) - Also, is bad that I'm going to keep pronouncing it all-dough even though I know it's 'wrong'? al-dough sounds too strange to me. Just realized I say like I'd say also - all-so... not al-so. Haha, I feel like Al-dough makes me have a forced accent! I can't say it naturally! Thanks for investigating, this was interesting!!
