Girl of the Blogosphere: Kimberly

Name: Kimberly

City: Greenville, NC (Can you even call that a city?)

Occupation: Administrative Assistant

Who is your fashion inspiration?
My real life fashion inspirations are my daughter and my four best girlfriends. My daughter is the reason I started to blog in the first place- I fell into the new mom rut, decided I deserved better, and wanted to be a "chic mommy." And my best friends all represent different parts of my style from classic to professional to sporty to mom-on-the-go. In the blog world, I gather inspiration from several bloggers, but Sydney, of The Daybook, has a fashionable, classy, chic, clean, and ATTAINABLE style that I love. My celebrity style icon is Lauren Conrad. Her style is SO easy and girly!

What is one thing you always carry in your bag?
Oh, C.O. Bigelow tinted lip gloss with menthol in it, hands down. I'll remember my lip gloss before my cell phone.

What is your current favourite fashion trend?
Something I love to see, but am not super comfortable wearing is the military look. I love the idea of combat boots and a chic, tailored military inspired jacket. But for some reason, I just can't make it look right on myself. I've tried on a few jackets that are cute on the hanger, but don't do it for me on my body. A trend I'll never get over is girly ruffles and florals. I love tiny floral prints on lightweight ruffled dresses. The look makes me feel so ethereal and feminine.

What is the current trend you dislike the most?
I'm really not into metallics. Don't get me wrong. I love accessorizing with pops of gold, silver, copper and pewter, but I don't think I could manage to wear an entire piece of clothing that's metallic.

Why did you start your blog?
This is my favorite question, and I kind of ruined it by giving you hints in my answer to #1, but I started my blog because I was living in t-shirts, sweat pants, flip-flops, and exercise clothes. All I wanted after my daughter was born, was to be comfortable. I didn't realize that one could be fashionable and comfortable at the same time. And before the blog, I probably would never have even considered compromising a bit of comfort to look really good. But, I decided to document my outfits to hold myself accountable. I figured that if I was going to have my picture taken every day, I couldn't be lazy.

Who takes your photos for you/ How do your take your photos?
Sometimes, my husband takes my photos, but I do them myself, most of the time. I just got a new camera for my birthday, and my husband found a few tripods for me to test out, so that's my preferred method when he's not around. Before about a week ago, though, I was setting my little digital camera on whatever flat surface I could find and praying that the self timer would work!

How would you describe your style?
The only way to put my style into one description is "Chic Mom-On-The-Go." I was so afraid that when I got the gumption to start "getting dressed" after my daughter was born, that I would fall into cropped khakis, striped polos, and keds. I didn't want to be THAT mom. I express myself, depending on my mood and the weather, and I have a wide array of styles within in my wardrobe, ranging from casual to dressy and professional to preppy.

What is one thing you are dying to buy this spring?
I want a dress for every single day. I've put myself on a year-long shopping ban to help gain more control over finances and weed out what I need and don't need in my wardrobe. But I want sweet, girly dresses like nobody's business.

Are you a shoes or bags kind of girl?
Shoes, shoes, shoes! Bags aren't exciting to me. GASP! I know, it's crazy. My shoulders slant down, a lot, so most bags just slip right down my arm and frustrate me to no end! I can't imagine spending a ton of money on a bag that isn't going to stay on my shoulder! Now, if I could find a sweet cross-body bag that is classic, neutral in color, and big enough to carry my lip gloss, camera, phone, wallet, and a diaper or two if we're on the run, I'm picking that baby up. Shopping ban or not! But shoes... they make me drool.

What is one thing that you regret buying?
Just last Fall, I purchased a seafoam green wrap shirt from New York and Company. I bought it online and the color looked really pretty and minty. When I received it in the mail, it looked like baby peas and the color washes me out so badly that I look sea sick. I let it hang in my closet while deliberating, and now it's too late for a return!

If you could meet one person from the fashion industry/ a fashion icon who would it be?
Lauren Conrad. I know, I know. Several people would prefer to meet a high fashion designer or runway model. And Lauren is YOUNGER than me, too boot, so it's not like she's had a lifetime of experience. But at the same time, she's accomplished so much at a young age, she's chasing her dreams, her style is within reach for the average woman, and her book, "Lauren Conrad Style," was a huge inspiration to me.

What is your favourite vacation destination?
I haven't been anywhere exotic or super-exciting, except for France. And that was for a school trip! So, as far as my official vacations have gone, I'll have to choose the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The beaches and restaurants are amazing, it's not too touristy, and that's where I've made a ton of memories with my friends and my husband.

What is one totally random fact you want others to know about you?
If I could only choose one "meal" for the rest of my life, I'd choose original Oreos (not that double stuff nastiness) and milk!

Joe Fresh Nude Nail Polish

I think I will own the entire Joe Fresh nail polish collection pretty soon. Every time I shop at the Super Store I buy 3 colours. It is impossible for me to walk past the display without stopping and looking at all the colours. For the American's who have been curious about this Canadian brand you will soon be able to shop at a Joe Fresh store in NYC. It was announced yesterday that the brand has plans to expand into the United States with their first store opening at 5th Ave. and 43rd St.

I don't normally wear such neutral nail colours but I decided to try out something new and I actually really like this because it can be worn with just about anything and there are some situations that blue polish just isn't appropriate for.

Hana Professional Pink Flat Iron from Misikko.com

I was approached by Misikko.com to review the Hana Professional Pink Flat Iron. A flat iron is one product that I use pretty much everyday so I was excited to try out a new iron. Misikko.com sells Ceramic Flat Irons, Bio Iconic Flat Irons, Curling Irons, Blow Dryers and lots of hair products such as Moroccan Oil Hair Treatment.

When the box arrived I was expecting the standard cardboard and plastic that usually comes with online orders. Above is what arrived at my door. I was so impressed with how it was packaged. I have ordered flat irons online before and I have never had them arrive like this. It was quite obvious that a lot of thought and care was taken when putting the package together

Misikko.com always sends your box with a little pouch filled with nail files and hand sanitizer. Some kind of beauty product is also included in all boxes and I was given lip liner.

The flat iron came with a silicone pad which is AMAZING. I have never had one of these before and they are great because I don't have to worry so much about where I am putting the iron while I use it. I once left an iron on too long and burned a mark into the floor of one of my Korean apartments (Oops). It wouldn't have happened if I had this silicone pad back then. The iron also came with a pink traveling pouch, a black drawstring bag and a black pad.

I also really loved that the iron came in this black tin. None of the other irons I have bought in the past have come in a tin like this and I thought it was great for long term storage.

I have used the iron everyday since I received it. It does an awesome job of straightening and can also be used to curl your hair. I'm not an expert on curling with a flat iron but now that I have an iron that can curl I plan to learn how to do it.

If you are looking for new hair care products go check out Misikko.com!

* I was gifted the flat iron but was not paid to write this post. All opinions are my own.

I had the same pair for 5 years and decided to change up my look a little bit and decided on a plastic frame this time around. The frame is from a company called ProDesign Denmark. Girl of the Blogosphere: Leia

Name: Leia

City: Dhaka, Bangladesh

Occupation: Recent graduate & full-time blogger

Who is your fashion inspiration?
I know this is really cheesy but my mother has always been my fashion inspiration - she always takes fashion risks and doesn't care what people think, and I wish I could be more like that!

What is one thing you always carry in your bag?
Carmex. I have such dry lips!

What is your current favourite fashion trend?
Midi and maxi length skirts. I think they are so feminine and comfortable!

What is the current trend you dislike the most?
Anything '70s inspired. I just don't think that wide-hemmed trousers are flattering! I know that some people feel that in order to be fashionable you have to forget about what looks good on you, but it's important to me to wear clothes that suit my figure than to opt for something trendy.

Why did you start your blog?
I started my blog because I wanted an outlet to share outfits, food, nail art, etc. with people who have similar interests, because the people I know in real life aren't really interested in all that!

Who takes your photos for you/ How do your take your photos?
It varies. Sometimes I take them myself with a tripod, or I ask a friend/relative to take them for me.

How would you describe your style?
Feminine and slightly conservative!

What is one thing you are dying to buy this spring?
A pretty floral dress to wear to garden parties and barbeques.

Are you a shoes or bags kind of girl?
I'm a shoe girl at heart, but am very picky about the shoes that I buy, so I've ended up having more bags than shoes!

What is one thing that you regret buying?
I bought a Dior saddle bag a couple of years ago, but ended up just not liking it at all... so I really regret that buy.

I

f you could meet one person from the fashion industry/ a fashion icon who would it be?

Audrey Hepburn (so predictable, right?) She was just so beautiful, natural, and stylish.

What is your favourite vacation destination?

Definitely London! I lived there for four years and have never in my life spent a summer away from London! It's just the most amazing, vibrant, fashionable city.

What is one totally random fact you want others to know about you?

I used to hate fashion up until I went to university! When I went shopping with friends, I used to take a book with me and sit in a corner and read, haha. My 'uniform' for several years was jeans and a fitted top - usually in black or white. How things have changed! ;)
