Winter Floral

I haven't blogged in ages thanks to school but now the semester is over and I finally have some time to blog again. I think my most stressful class was Adobe Illustrator. I am thankful that I know how to use the program but learning to use it while caring about my GPA was a bit of a struggle.

I saw these pants in American Eagle in September and thought they were cute but I wasn't willing to pay full price for them. Last week I wandered by and saw they were having a sale and it turns out my waiting paid off because they were 50% off!
I know floral isn't the most wintery print but I like it.

What do you think?

Products I've Used Up: October

This is somewhat late but better late than never right? I used up quite a few trusted products this month and wanted to share with you. I've been using the St.Ives Apricot scrub since high school and I ALWAYS repurchase it. It's cheap and effective and that is pretty much all you need from a face scrub. I also managed to finish up my Garnier eye roller and while I do think it is rather expensive for a Garnier product ($20 at Shoppers Drug Mart?!) I've been using it everyday for about four years and this was only my second tube, so it lasts a long time. The Nivea eye cream was kind of MEH and I won't be repurchasing that. The Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer is pretty fabulous and I will be buying it again at some point. I use it with the Corrector and it is my favourite way to cover dark circles. I also tested out Bioderma's Sensibo H20 and I loved it. I will not remove waterproof eye makeup but it does a great job of removing face makeup and it is very gentle. Last but not least this little Orlane eye serum sample got used up and while I loved it I can't justify the price at this point.
Products: St. Ives Exfoliating Apricot Scub, Nivea Aqua Sensations Eye Cream, Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer, Garnier Anti Dark Circles Eye Roller, Bioderma Sensibo H20, Orlane Anaganese 25+ First Time Fighting Care Eye Contour

Ray-Ban Cats from SmartBuyGlasses.ca

I was recently contacted by the folks at SmartBuyGlasses.ca to review a pair of Ray Ban Sunglasses and I jumped at the chance. I was actually on the look out for a new pair of sunglasses anyway and I fell in love with the pair that they sent me. The Ray-Ban Cats  are a modern take on a classic cat eye, which is a shape I never thought I would be able to wear but they actually work really well on my face, or so I think.
They came packaged in a Ray-Ban box with glasses cleaner and a little screwdriver to adjust the screws if needed which I think is great because now I can adjust my glasses on my own.
SmartBuyGlasses.ca carries a lot of designer brands at discounted prices so if you are in the market for a new pair of glasses or sunglasses check them out!

What do you think of them on me?

*I was gifted the sunglasses but was not paid to write this post. All opinions are my own.

Abuelita

My grandmother passed away two weeks ago. She had just celebrated her 87th Birthday.
She was a regular reader of my blog sometimes giving me post ideas. One of the things that i think we will all remember her for is her love of computers. I think she was the first in the family to have internet and she was probably the only iPod, iPad, iMac, Facebook, and Twitter using grandmother out there. Apparently her iPad had 286 apps on it which probably 250 more than I have on my iPhone.
I also may have inherited my love of fashion and design from her. She studied art in Colombia and interior design while she was living in New York City. She was an artist throughout her life, sculpting, designing jewellery and painting.

My mom posted this photo on Facebook and I think it is one of my favourites. This exactly how I'll remember her.

Saturday Tea Party

What better way is there to celebrate a birthday than with a grown up tea party! I helped celebrate my friend Vanessa's birthday over the weekend and it was the perfect excuse to wear my new dress (Vanessa forced me to wear it and since it was her birthday she got what she wanted).
The table was set with beautiful vintage tea cups, macarons, scones and Devonshire cream. (I'd never had Devonshire cream before and it was delish!) We basically ate ourselves silly and I may or may not have been in pain by the end of the night (oops).
And then it was cake time :S
I attempted to make I am Baker's heart cake and I think it was fairly successful. If I could go back in time I would make the cake white and only do the heart pink so that it was easier to see. But my cake scooping and carving skills aren't too bad!
What do you think? Can you see the heart?

HRH Sophie, The Countess of Wessex in Niagara

If you have been reading my blog for a while you will know that I am somewhat of a Royalist and have been since I was a child. So when I heard that Prince Edward and Sophie, The Countess of Wessex (the Queen's youngest son and his wife for you weirdos who don't know who they are) were in Canada and would be in the Niagara Region I knew I had to go and check it out. I headed out to the site of one of her engagements and was slightly embarrassed to find that I was the youngest person waiting to see her by at least 30 years. (I'm super cool!) The crowd was also quite small (no more than 15-20 people) so I was pretty sure that I would at the very least get a good photograph of her.
She pulled up to the Wine Centre just after 3:15pm and before greeting the officials who were waiting for her she said she was going to greet the crowd. She walked around her car and worked her way down the line of people waiting to catch a glimpse of her (and we got more than a glimpse). Some people had photographs of previous visits and she stopped to look at them.
Right about here she stopped in front of me and said "Hello, how are you?" I'm pretty sure I answered back "fine, thank you, how are you?" Seriously, what do you say to a member of the Royal Family?! I didn't actually think I'd get the chance to say anything and was slightly unprepared but those few seconds totally made my week.
I watched her wedding to Prince Edward with my mom (who doesn't remember) and sister back in 1999 so lets just say a childhood dream came true. Prior to her arrival a reporter from the local newspaper was asking people in the crowd some questions. She asked two elderly women (in their 80's probably) "who are you here to see?" they replied, "we are here to see Fergie!" Wrong royal ladies, wrong royal (hahaha).
Here is my "OMG I just talked to her"face and "I'm in the same shot as her" face (she's somewhere in the group of people behind me)
And because this is a fashion blog here are some better shots of what she was wearing. The dress and jacket were beautiful. This is also the same look that she wore to the Diamond Jubilee Thanksgiving Service back in June. I'm not sure who designed the dress and jacket but I really loved them!

Weekend Fun

On Saturday night my roommate Vanessa and I headed over to my cousins house to celebrate her birthday. I wore bright red pants and a polka dot blouse and Vanessa bravely carried a four layer cake on the subway.
Sadly the cake started leaning as the night wore on (I'd really like to know why?!) so we cut into it and surprise it was an ombre cake (which was super fun to make). My sister, cousin and I posed for a few photos that just so happened to be in front of a painting done by my mother.
And then it was time to play charades. I'm acting out Fifty Shades of Grey. All it took was "book" and "four words" before someone yelled out "FIFTY SHADES OF GREY" so it definitely called for a high five.
What did you do on Saturday night?

Products I've Used Up: August

I've been making an effort to use products I already have in my stash because A. I'm on a budget and B. hoarding beauty products is kind of silly. I temporarily moved two weeks ago and told myself I would only take the things I used everyday and what I packed as "necessities" was kind of ridiculous. Somehow I managed to make a dent in my stash in August and finished up eight items.
What I finished:
1. Cake It's a Slice Velveteen Hand Creme
2. Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara
3. Renew Contact Solution
4. Live Clean Argan Oil Conditioner
5. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen
6. Love Peace Planet Totally Beachin
7. Garnier Lift Night Cream
8. Vasanti BrightenUp Enzymatic Face Rejuvinator

Do you go through products quickly?

Fashion's Night Out at Holt Renfrew

Thursday was Fashion's Night Out so I decided to head to Holt Renfrew with a few friends. Holt's was hosting a street party in front of the store complete with magenta coloured caramel corn and special edition diet cokes (of course it would be diet). Once the sun had set they projected a short film on the outside of the store to celebrate their 175th Anniversary. To be perfectly honest it left a little (or a lot) to be desired but the pink confetti shooting into the sky was kind of fun.
Did you do anything for FNO?
