A Long Weekend in Wasaga

We had a long weekend here in Canada. Apparently we were celebrating something called Simcoe Day in Ontario which I've never heard of and I've been a resident my entire life (oops). With four free days my friend Vanessa and I decided to head to Wasaga Beach for the weekend.  It is about a two hour drive from Toronto so we headed out on Thursday evening so that we could beat the Friday  traffic. The weekend was all about relaxing, having a few drinks (like this iced tea flavoured beer which I sort of liked) and lots of eating.
I spotted this lonely red leaf and it reminded me that fall is just around the corner (which means school is about to start :[ ).
After a really rough morning (grabbing groceries at Walmart) we ate lunch, made Pimm's cocktail (don't you love the punch glasses?), ate Lithuanian meat dumplings which were seriously delicious and I made home made vanilla ice cream. (Post to come!)
As the evening wore on Vanessa decided we should curl my hair (just for fun). And then she gave me a pair of socks to help fight off the evening chill and the mosquitos. (Don't you love my outfit? It's cottage chic! LOL)
The next day was WAY too hot to do much of anything so we just sat on the deck avoiding the sun. Dinner was Lithuanian cold beet soup which I thought was delicious and I plan on making for myself at some point.
And then it was time to head home. Good-bye, Wasaga!

  1. I love that you call it a "cottage!" It's so cute! Here we say, "going to the cabin" or "going up North."

  2. Coors Light Iced Tea?! I have to try that!
