La Carnita Taqueria

Last week I met up with some friends for dinner at La Carnita Taqueria which is apparently a food truck turned restaurant. My friend Vanessa insisted that I blog about the meal so that's what I'm doing.
I will preface this with saying I tend to be a Mexican food snob and I'm a firm believer that the only place you can get good Mexican is in Mexico.
I ate the Chiles Rellenos and they were good but they weren't chiles rellenos. They should have called them spicy cheese sticks. I thought because they had Oaxaca cheese listed as an ingredient it would be semi authentic but it wasn't :( I also had the Crispy Avocado and Frijoles Taco which was delicious. This one passed the test.

And since this is not a food blog that is all I'm going to say.

Revlon Carbonite Nail Polish

It took me a while to get into metallic nail colours but after a few purchases last summer while I was in NYC I sort of fell for all things metallic. This is obviously not a summery colour but I like it anyway. I think it's a great way to add some fun to your nails while still being neutral.

Weekend Wedding

I went to a wedding with my sister and a friend over the weekend. I didn't know the couple getting married which meant I wasn't prepared to spend money on a dress so I decided to shop my closet. I pulled out this black Smart Set dress circa 2006. I've only worn it once so i figured it needed another go. My friend was wearing Isabel Marant though so I had a bit of fashion envy.
Smart Set vs Marant? (I think Marant wins! lol)
And now I'd really like to know how on earth you all keep your feet from slipping out of pumps?! I was using suede heel grips but they did not do the trick. I've previously added an insole but they made the shoe painfully tight. I'd appreciate any advice!

The Korea Years: Beijing

In February of 2008 I had a few days off of work thanks to Lunar New Year so I headed to Beijing with a friend. China is one of those places that I never thought I would be lucky enough to visit so I was thrilled with the opportunity to see Beijing!
Airplane kimchi on the flight from Busan to Beijing, the Temple of Heaven, and the Summer Palace
Probably the most anticipated stop of the trip. The Great Wall! I never thought it was a place I would get to visit so I was in awe.
Tianamen Square and the Forbidden City
Behai Park

Have you ever travelled somewhere you never thought you'd ever go?

Jewel Mint

Over the last year I've accumulated a few pieces from Jewel Mint and thought I would share them with you. I made my first two purchases using coupon codes for 50% and 70% off so I think I got a pretty good deal. I make sure to skip each month so I don't use the site as a monthly service because that seems a bit excessive to me and I don't love something every month anyway.
1. Midas Ring
2. Bow Tie Bracelet
3. Lioness Bracelet
4. Bullet Necklace
5. Aqua Bomb Ring

Right now my favourite piece is the Bow Tie Bracelet
Which one is your favourite?

The Korea Years: One

Sometimes I get frustrated because I'm still in school and I'm interning. If I had gone back to school right after I graduated from university I wouldn't be a poor student at the moment. If I had gone right back into another program, however, I never would have had the experience of a life time, living in South Korea. I thought I would share some photos from the time I spent living in their with all of you even though it is not remotely fashion related.
Downtown Daegu and my neighbourhood Jisan-Dong
Jisan, Everland (theme park), and water sports in Andong.
Busan's Haeundae Beach by day and night

A weekend in the mountains that involved BBQing, sleeping in a cupboard (not really), a giant pot of shrimp (that arrived by mail - not joking) that was eaten by one person (not me)...
... and some hiking of course

   My  81s18th 23rd birthday

My hair transformation in the first year

A tradition of sorts. Posing for my coworker Susan's photos with silly things- goggles, carrot, pulled pork sandwich, shoes, hair pin, and a gift for our departing manager.

Saying goodbye to my students was bitter sweet.

Green + Black + Leopard

This is one of my current favourite outfits. I can't get enough of coloured pants at the moment and these leopard pony hair Yosi Samra flats are super comfortable. I am also the proud new owner of a Rebecca Minkoff MAC Clutch and I've been using it every chance I get.

What items are you loving at the moment?

Ombre!

I first ombred my hair last fall but it was very subtle and hardly noticeable. A few weeks ago I decided it was time to do it again but this time I wanted to be able to see the colour difference. When I got a look at myself after it had been done I freaked out a bit because it seemed a little too blond.

Now it has faded a bit and I really like how it turned out.

What do you think?

Are you a fan of ombre?
