Over the last three years I have morphed into a skincare junkie and I have become obsessed with trying new products all in the hopes that I will find something that magically stops the ageing process (I can dream, right?) With that being said, I am still in my 20's so my regimen is more about prevention rather than actually treating issues like wrinkles. I have filmed a YouTube video talking about all the products I use and you can watch it HERE or down below.
Every morning I wash my face with Avene's Gentle Gel Cleanser which I was given by a friend after she decided it wasn't right for her skin. I have normal/combination skin that can be slightly sensitive at times and I find this to be a great gentle cleanser for the morning. It doesn't lather up so if that's what you are looking for you won't enjoy this. Once a week or so I use the Clarisonic Mia as a form of exfoliation. I used to use this every night while cleansing but I think it works better for me in the morning and with less frequent use. Other products I use to exfoliate are Murad's AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser and Michael Todd True Organics Tropical Fruit Enzymatic Scrub. Both have tiny beads and are good physical exfoliants. Once I'm out of the shower I spray on the Nuxe Gentle Toning Lotionwhich I like but wish wasn't so fragranced. It is gentle and hydrating which is important to me and so far it's doing the job. My skin never feels tight after cleansing and I attribute it to this.
After a period of breaking out I started using La Roche Posay's Effaclar Duo and it is now a must-have item in my stash. I'm already nearing the end of my second tube and will 100% be repurchasing this product. It has kept major breakouts and bay and any spots that do pop up are relatively minor and heal quickly. My moisturizer does not contain an SPF so every morning I slather on Elta MD's UV Shield SPF 45 and then follow with Neutrogena's Oil-Free Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin. I really like the SPF because it is non-greasy and it doesn't break me out. It also doesn't smell like sunscreen which is something I hate about having to put on SPF. The moisturizer is pretty basic but a decent addition especially if you are on a budget.
I then use the Garnier Anti-Puff Eye Roller to help wake me up. While I can't say that it is super for anit-puffing I really enjoy the cooling effect of the metal ball so I will keep on using this. My current eye cream is Olay Touch of Concealer Eye Regenerating Cream which I like, but don't love. The cream is tinted and it is a tad bit to dark for me so I always need to make sure that I have blended it well. Before I start my makeup I pop on a bit of Nuxe's Reve de Miel Lip Balm which I love to use before makeup because of it's matte finish which makes it great for layering under other lip products. Finally I use Caudalie's Beauty Elixir to get rid of any powdery finish after I have done my makeup or to refresh throughout the day. I also use the Avene Thermal Spring Water for refreshing or right after I've washed my face but you'll have to watch the video below to see why I do that!
What products do you use in the morning?
I looove that pumpkin mask!
ReplyDeletehttp://talisatalksbeauty.blogspot.co.uk
Hi Talisa! What pumpkin mask are you referring to? I didn't mention any masks in this post.
DeleteI really like seeing how other people's skin care routine goes, cool post!

Thanks for sharing your morning skincare routine. I don't use anything special <3

A skincare routine is something I really need to do - honestly right now all I do is slap on some moisturizer with SPF and thats it.
ReplyDeleteQuick question though...did you start off doing all of these steps together or did you just add in more steps as time when on and you found what worked and what didn't etc?
Martina
http://snapshotsandwhatnots.typepad.com
Hi Martina! I started out just using moisturizer and slowly started adding in products I felt I needed. I'd start out w a decent non-foaming cleanser, a toner that doesn't contain alcohol that is targeted towards your skin type or concerns and a moisturizer w SPF for day. I wouldn't recommend sleeping w SPF. Hope that helps!
DeleteI need to try that eye puffness roller! I've noticed my eyes are getting puffy and I haven't found a good solution yet!

Would you recommend the Clarisonic Mia? Need to try some Michael Todd products soon.
ReplyDeleteEllen x | Being Ellen Stacey
It is a pricey addition to a routine but I think it is great for exfoliating and deep cleansing. If you take good care of your skin already I don't think you will see major changes though. With that being said, I really enjoy using it mine!
DeleteThanks :) I love a gadget so would definitely consider buying one. Like to try new things out in my skincare routine.
DeleteI really like seeing what other people use on their skin in the morning. I always worry I use far too many products. I became uncomfortably scared of ageing after my last birthday, which is a bit silly as I'm also in my early twenties. But I suppose it's never too early to start taking care of your skin.
ReplyDeleteI'm so eager to try Murad products and the Effaclar Duo has become a must for me too.

my moto is PREVENTION! lol. i figure we are never too young to start worrying about keep our skin looking young!
DeleteI love learning about other people's skin care routine since I too dream off stopping the aging process haha
ReplyDeleteI love the Clarisonic, but I only use it a couple of times a week as well, and I am absolutely obsessed with the Elta sunscreen. Definitely want to try Murad's Exfoliating Cleanser and the Enzymatic Scrub. :)

Just started using the Garnier eye puffer as well. I've tried so many different products and am hoping this one doesn't let me down. Hope to see some results with it in a couple weeks, but I agree that I like the cooling effect of it in the morning too. Great post!

Hey, thanks for commenting on my blog :)
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for a new skincare routine lately since mine stopped working as well as it used to. How do you like the Murad cleanser? I was looking at that at Sephora last week.
Thanks for all of the tips!
heyniki.wordpress.com
I like the Murad cleanser. The beads are quite tiny which makes it great for exfoliating and it's not too harsh. Im not sure if there is long enough contact for the AHA/BHA's to do a lot of work but it's nice. Ask for a sample at Sephora so you can try it out before committing to an entire tube! I rarely purchase without trying first.
DeleteThats a good idea, thanks!

Your routine sounds great! I'm still on the fence about the clarisonic, it's so expensive and some people have giving it such awful reviews, I'd still love to try it for myself :( Need to take inspiration from this!

If you already take good care of your skin I don't think you will see dramatic results from using the Clarisonic but I think it is a nice addition to a routine if you have the budget for it.
Deletevery nice beauty products!!
ReplyDeletehttp://julesfashionweek.com
Ahhh we can all dream right! I'm much the same as you, all about preventing as much possible. I'm always using sunscreen though as that's a huge factor of skin damage over here in Australia!

Would you recommend the clarisonic? I'm tempted but it's quite the splurge!
ReplyDeleteI would recommend it but I wouldn't say it's an essential item especially if money is tight. If you take good care of your skin already then I don't think you will see major results but it is a nice addition to a skincare routine.
DeleteThanks for replying! It's lovely to get other people's recommendation's before looking into purchasing! I think it may be something I will buy later in the year when my skin tend to play up a bit more :)
