Sleek Makeup Contour Kit

A few weeks ago this little gem from Sleek Makeup made it's way into my mail box and I was very excited to try it out. I have seen many bloggers and vloggers talk about the Sleek Makeup Contour Kit and I wanted to see if it lived up to the hype. I don't actually contour very often as I don't feel it suits my face shape (Maybe I'm not doing it properly, who knows). However, I am a huge fan of highlighting and it ranks up with blush as my favourite product.

I was a bit worried because most drugstore highlighters I have tried tend to be a bit chalky and usually have rather chunky glitter which doesn't really make for a natural look (if you know what I mean). This highlighter is pretty finely milled for a drugstore product and there was no chunky glitter in sight. It also blended nicely into the skin and overall left a very natural glowy finish. I normally tend to gravitate towards more pink toned highlighters so I am very glad that I picked this one up as I was lacking a more peach/champagne toned highlighter.

The bronzer is good too although if I am being honest I was definitely more excited about the highlighter. It is matte which makes it great for contouring (which I haven't actually done) and just warming up the face. Over all this is a great product especially for travel because you have two products in one.

Mint + Polka Dots

Last week I had a meeting and I decided to whip out this little polka dot dress from H&M (it's very Kate Middleton, no?). I decided to pair it with a mint J. Crew cardigan that I borrowed from my roommate (because shockingly, I do not own a single normal cardigan). I also wore my trusty Calvin Klein wedges that I picked up at Marshall's a month or two ago and I have to say these may be the best purchase I have made in a long time. I can actually walk in these and my feet don't flop off. Even better, they are actually comfortable and I could spend all day in them if necessary. (What more could I ask for?) Also, how crazy does my foot look? Clearly the tops of my feet have been getting A LOT more sun then my legs! (It's not so obvious in person so we can thank Instagram for the crazy contrast)

Insta-Life #2

A morning walk in the countryside was the perfect way to start a weekend away / Wally the cat is not very friendly and he also likes to steal butter off the table (something I have never seen before!) / A sexy morning look (I mean who doesn't look hot when they pair rain boots with their pyjamas?) / Hanging out with my nephew Finley (isn't he cute?)

NUME Pure Remedy Repair Mask

I have recently become somewhat obsessed with hair masks. My hair hasn't been in the best condition thanks to recent colouring so I have been trying my best to get it back into shape. My biggest issues are breakage and dryness. I haven't found a solution for the breakage (and the resulting frizz and flyaways) but when it comes to dryness I think I have it under control. I have been using this NUME Pure Remedy Repair Mask a few times a week for about a month now and it does an excellent job of hydrating my hair. Does it repair? Probably not. I don't think you can reverse damage that has already been done but it leaves my hair feeling silky smooth and I can run a brush through it easily after I get out of the shower which makes me happy. Overall I am pretty pleased with how my hair feels and looks after I have used this and I think injecting a good amount of moisture into your strands a few times a week can do wonders.

My Favourite Face Masks

I'm pretty sure that every girl loves to use face masks. What's better than pampering yourself in the comfort of your own home? I have a few favourites in my stash and I thought I would share them here. I also filmed a video to go along with this post and you can check that out HERE or down below. One of my favourite masks is the Boscia Luminizing Black Mask because it is an excellent exfoliater (and I just really love the way it feels to peel off a mask). Another great exfoliater and brightener is the Andalou Naturals Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask which I think is a dupe for the Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask. They smell the same, look the same and feel the same on the skin and I would say the end results are fairly similar (plus it's a fraction of the price). I also really love the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay because it is excellent at deep cleansing. This comes in powder form and can be mixed with water or cider vinegar. I would not recommend this mask for those with sensitive skin though, as it left my skin quite red and my skin is not too sensitive.
When I need some hydration I turn to the Nuxe Creme Fraiche 24H Soothing and Rehydrating Mask. I usually leave this on over night (I do wake up feeling a bit greasy but I think it's worth it) and then wash it off in the morning. You can also leave it on for twenty minutes like a standard mask and then wipe it off but I usually go for overnight. I also really enjoy using the Emma Hardie Amazing Face Cleansing Balm as a mask. I only do this in the winter when my skin is extremely dry but it feels amazing and works really well at soothing dry skin and injecting a bit of moisture back in. Finally when I want to relax as well as pamper myself I use a facial sheet mask simply because they are fun to use and they force you to lay down for twenty minutes. My current favourites are from a Canadian company called MaskerAide. They have six types in their range and while I haven't tried all six I love the ones that I have tried.

Sleek Makeup Blush By 3 Candy Collection: Sweet Cheeks

Sleek blushes have long been talked about here in the blogosphere and I finally got my hands on one of their limited edition blush trios and I couldn't have been more excited to give it a go. I think it's safe to say that blush is one of my favourite makeup items as I love the way it can brighten up a dull complexion.

The trio I got was the Candy Collection Blush By 3 in Sweet cheeks. It comes in a very cute and compact  black case and I was actually a bit surprised by how small it was in person. For some reason it looks bigger in photos than it is in real life.

The trio comes with two powder blushes and one cream blush and I think all three are fantastic value for money. As this was my first experience with Sleek blushes I wasn't entirely sure what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. I now have another drugstore brand to add to my list when it comes to fantastic and inexpensive blushes.

Cupcake is a raspberry hued cream blush that blends easily into the skin. This colour is the most out of my comfort zone but I am trying to break out of my square when it comes to colour choices. Dollymix is a matte mauve/pink powder blush and I would say this one is my favourite. The final one is Candy Floss which is a beautiful rosey almost red powder blush with a slight shimmer to it but no glitter. All in all I am very happy with this palette and I know I will get a lot of use out of it.

My Favourite Lip Balms

Today is all about my favourite lip balms. I've filmed a video to go along with this and you can watch it HERE or down below. Starting off with basics I LOVE Eucerin's Aquaphor and I have it in the regular tube as well as the smaller Lip Repair version. When nothing else is working for dry or chapped lips this is what I turn to. I'm also a fan of Nuxe's Reve de Miel Lip Balm and I tend to use it in the morning prior to putting on lipstick or gloss etc. I also turn to Fresh's Sugar Lip Balm because it contains SPF 15 but for longer periods in the sun my go to is Balea's Aloe and Mint SPF 30 (nothing is worse than burnt lips).
Next up are three of my favourite tinted lip balms from Korea. These are Skin Food's Tomato Jelly Tint Lip and they are super soft and smooth tinted balms that are remarkably pigmented. They only come in three colours but these will always be a favourite.
Continuing on with tinted balms I am a little bit obsessed with the Maybelline Baby Lips (I own a shocking FIVE of them). These are great for everyday use as they contain SPF 20 and they give the lips a perfect amount of colour and hydration. My favourites are Cherry Me and Fruit Punch. Also stuck in there is my Fresh Sugar Lip Balm in Rose which I love but I wish it was a but more pigmented than it is but it is great for no makeup days.
Finally we are on to the potted balms. I think my favourites are the Sleek Makeup Pout Polishes which I own in Powder Pink and Scandalous but I also have a soft spot for Vaseline's Rosey Lips, RMS Beauty's Lip Shine in Bloom and the Korres Lip Butter in Plum. If I had my way I wouldn't use a lip balm in a pot so I tend to apply these only at home or immediately after washing my hands. These are not for applying while riding the subway (unless you don't care how many germs end up in the product and then onto your lips)

Black + Red

Last weekend I headed home to Niagara for a few days with my parents. It is always nice to escape the city and enjoy some peace and quite. The longer I live in the city the more I enjoy the quite moments small town life has to offer (but I always get bored after a few days). We headed out to enjoy a local food truck and the sunny weather and I wore an H&M tank, American Eagle Jeggings (which was brave considering the humidity), my snake skin Yosi Samra flats and my Rebecca Minkoff Mac Clutch (which doesn't get enough love).

Dermalogica Antioxidant Hydramist Review

I'm a huge fan of toners and facial mists so I was more than happy to give Dermalogica's Antioxidant Hydramist* a go. According to Dermalogica it is a refreshing antioxidant shield with flash-firming properties to improve skin texture, fight damaging free radicals and intensely hydrate the skin. I have been using this morning and night after I cleanse and before I apply my serums and moisturizers for the last month or so and it has been working very well for me. I hasn't broken me out and my skin has been very hydrated. I haven't been using this long enough to comment on improved skin texture but it is definitely hydrating which is what I look for in a toner. Nothing bothers me more than an alcohol laden toner that makes my skin feel crispy and dry. I think this would be a fantastic addition to my skincare routine come winter but I would definitely not recommend this for people with oily skin because I think it would be a bit too much for you. Another point to mention is just how excellent the nozzle is on this spray bottle. It shoots out the finest spray I have have encountered from a facial mist so far and I love it. You will not be left with droplets on your face which makes this an excellent option for midday refreshing.

What's In My Bag: Michael Kors Selma Satchel

If you have been a longtime reader of my blog then you will know that my number one obsession is handbags. My parents recently gave me the Michael Kors Selma Satchel as a graduation gift and I have been obsessed with it ever since. I also filmed a Youtube video to go along with the post and you can watch it HERE or down below.
Michael Kors Selma Satchel
I tend to carry a lot of things on an everyday basis and while filming the video I realized just how ridiculous I am. No one NEEDS to carry around 10+ lip products on a daily basis. I think it may be time that I seriously reconsider everything that goes into my bag each day and only carry things I actually need and use. I always take my Baggu Zippered Pouch with lip products, hand sanitizer, and my super cute Hello Kitty compact mirror. I also carry a water bottle, pain killers and a Rebecca Minkoff Zippered pouch for loose change and debit cards.
I usually carry my umbrella just incase it rains (which has been happening a lot lately. you'd think  was England with all the rain we've been having). My Fendi sunglasses are my everyday go-to glasses because of their perscription lens (I can't be bothered with contacts on a daily basis anymore). Finally, I always take my Marc by Marc Jacobs wallet and my Michael Kors keychain.

China Glaze Sparrow Nail Polish

I snagged China Glaze Sparrow, a pretty neon blue with tiny shimmer particles in it the other day and was excited to try it. I used to love blue nail polishes and I think if you did inventory of my collection blue would be the overwhelming winner. I am sorry to say that I didn't love this as much as I thought I would and I was a bit underwhelmed by it's lasting power. This photo was taken on day two and you can see it is already starting to chip. Perhaps the tiny glitter particles lessen the wear time because I've used other China Glaze polishes before and not had this problem.

Stripes + Michael Kors Selma Satchel

I was recently given the Michael Kors Selma Satchel as a gift for my graduation and I have been using it non stop since I received it. I surprisingly did not have a single black back in my collection (with the exception of my Rebecca Minkoff MAC clutch) so I have enjoyed having a classic black bag that goes with everything. It is made from a saffiano leather so it is very durable and I think it will really stand the test of time. On this particular day I was heading out for lunch with some co-workers and it was a beautiful sunny day so we ended up wandering much further than we intended. I was wearing my American Eagle jeggings, a Joe Fresh tee, Yosi Samra ballet flats, H&M blazer and my lovely new Selma Satchel.
